Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So visited the Ontario Centres of Excellence in Toronto today to learn about its experience in supporting the development of start-ups.
The centre is a non-profit organisation that drives the commercialisation of innovative ideas and provides training and coaching on entrepreneurship for students and youths.
Mr So learned that Hong Kong is one of the possible placement destinations for successful applicants under the GlobalStart Voucher Pilot Program launched by the centre in October 2015, which aims to support youth-led start-ups who target markets outside Canada.
He toured the MaRS Discovery District and learned about the services it provides to young entrepreneurs. MaRS is an independent registered charity that has become one of the world's largest innovation hubs, working with more than 1,000 promising young ventures.
Mr So also met with Chinese Consul General Xue Bing.
