Financial Secretary John Tsang today continued his visit to New York by meeting prominent financial figures.

 

He held talks with New York Federal Reserve Bank President William Dudley on US monetary policy and the major emerging markets' economic outlook.

 

Next stop was the New York Stock Exchange, where Mr Tsang spoke with its Chief Executive Officer Thomas Farley. They updated each other on their respective stock market developments.

 

Mr Tsang then travelled to Washington, DC, to meet with Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint. He briefed Mr DeMint on Hong Kong's latest business and economic developments, especially the tremendous opportunities arising from the Mainland's new Belt & Road initiative.

 

He wrapped up his day by attending a Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Washington, DC, reception and updated the US business sector on Hong Kong's economic situation and developments.

 

"As China's major international financial centre and the world's pre-eminent offshore renminbi centre, Hong Kong will play an important role in promoting the internationalisation of the renminbi," Mr Tsang said.

 

He will meet with senior Government officials and business leaders in Washington, DC, tomorrow.
