The Land Registry recorded 5,467 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in September, up 5.2% on August but down 31.6% year-on-year.
The 12-month moving average for September was 6,970, which was 2.9% below the 12-month moving average for August but 11.2% above that for September 2014.
The total consideration for sale and purchase agreements in September was $41.4 billion, up 8.6% on August but down 23.1% year-on-year.
Among the sale and purchase agreements, 4,263 were for residential units, up 9.4% on the previous month but down 28.4% compared with September 2014.
The total consideration for residential units was $33.5 billion, up 7.9% compared with August but 20.5% less than September 2014.
The public made 373,849 land register searches during the month.
