Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So says it is too early to conclude whether the number of inbound tourists is starting to rise after a downward trend since June.
Speaking to reporters after attending a radio programme today, Mr So said Hong Kong is facing competition from different countries and places in the region in attracting more Mainland tourists, and currency devaluation is making them more attractive.
While he strongly believes in the competitive edge of Hong Kong and the attractiveness of the city's tourist attractions, he said the Government will expand the traditional attractions for visitors.
It will also develop other areas, such as cultural and green tourism, by working with the travel industry, he added.
