Gov’t concerned about tourism

September 05, 2015

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is concerned about the decline in tourist numbers which may have an impact on Hong Kong's tourism and related industries and lead to economic and employment problems.

In a statement released today in response to media enquiries, the Government added that it has discussed the situation with the Central Government.

The statement added that since pregnant women coming to Hong Kong for delivery and bulk purchases of milk powder are not considered tourists, the Government has no intention to change the relevant policies for the time being.

The Government is willing to listen to any views and opinions on the development of tourism and related industries, and called for the public to help maintain Hong Kong's reputation as a hospitable travel destination.
