Property sales drop 29%

The Land Registry recorded 5,197 sale and purchase agreements for all building units in August, down 29.2% on July and down 34.2% year-on-year.

 

The 12-month moving average for August was 7,181, which was 3% below the 12-month moving average for July but 19.2% above that for August 2014.

 

The total consideration for sale and purchase agreements in August was $38.1 billion, down 31.2% on July and down 27.3% year-on-year.

 

Among the sale and purchase agreements, 3,896 were for residential units, down 27.8% on the previous month and down 37.3% compared with August 2014.

 

The total consideration for residential units was $31.1 billion, down 30.3% compared with July and 26.1% less than August 2014.

 

The public made 411,049 land register searches during the month.
