The Inland Revenue Department has issued an alert on a fraudulent email purporting to be issued by it from the email account "info.pbsb@synerlitz.com.my".
The email asks the recipient to pay outstanding tax as soon as possible and contains a document which may contain a computer virus.
The department said it has no connection with the fraudulent email and has reported the case to Police.
People are urged to be alert and not open suspicious emails.
