KC Chan visits Sydney

Mainland connection:  Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan speaks at a Business Awards Gala Dinner.

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan started his visit to Sydney today, meeting senior government officials, regulators and prominent figures in the Australian financial and business communities.

 
Prof Chan met with ANZ Banking Group Chief Executive Officer Michael Smith, and the Australia Reserve Bank Governor Glenn Stevens, to discuss global economic outlook and banking sector developments.

 

At a boardroom lunch hosted by the Australian Bankers' Association, Prof Chan gave an update on Hong Kong's latest financial developments, including the implementation of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect.

 

Prof Chan met Australian Prudential Regulation Authority Chairman Wayne Byres, to discuss regulatory issues including the macro-prudential measures and resolution regime for the banking sector.

 

He also met Minister for Finance, Services & Property of New South Wales Dominic Perrottet, and Financial Services Council Chairman Greg Cooper and Chief Executive Officer Sally Loane.

 

Prof Chan delivered a speech at a Business Awards Gala Dinner to promote the strength of Hong Kong as the world's largest offshore renminbi hub.
