New development:  Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So (second right) visits the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today continued his Tianjin visit to promote Hong Kong.

 

Mr So visited the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone to learn about its latest developments. He toured the Central Business District of Binhai New Area and was briefed on its plan and operation.

 

He then met the CPC Tianjin Municipal Committee Acting Secretary and Tianjin Mayor Huang Xingguo, and Tianjin Executive Vice Mayor Duan Chunhua to discuss economic and trade relations.

 

The Free Trade Zone will attract Hong Kong companies to set up a base there and will provide a more favourable environment for business and a platform to facilitate smooth co-operation between the two places, he noted.

 

Mr So also met Hong Kong people and enterprises in Beijing and Tianjin to exchange views with them on how to enhance co-operation and exchanges in economic and business areas between Hong Kong and Tianjin.
