Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So attended the APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in the Philippines today, and concluded the negotiation of an Investment Promotion & Protection Agreement with Canada.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Mr So met with Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen, the Philippines’ Secretary of Trade & Industry Gregory Domingo, Canada’s Minister of International Trade Edward Fast and Thailand’s Minister of Commerce General Chatchai Sarikulya.
The APEC meeting is exploring how to enhance regional economic integration and foster small and medium enterprises’ participation in regional and global markets, human capital development, and building sustainable and resilient communities.
At the meeting with Canada's international trade minister, the negotiation of an Investment Promotion & Protection Agreement was concluded.
The agreement aims to enhance investors' confidence, and enhance investment flows and the economic and trade relations between the two places. The two sides will sign the agreement after completing required internal procedures.
