KC Chan visits Seoul

On tour:  Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan (left) visits D.CAMP in Seoul.

Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan was in Seoul today to promote financial co-operation between Hong Kong and Korea, and to learn more about the country's efforts in fostering the growth of the financial technologies industry.

 

Prof Chan met with the Chairman of the Korea Federation of Banks Ha Yung-ku and the Chairman of the Financial Services Commission Yim Jong-yong.

 

At a luncheon organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council he gave a keynote speech on Hong Kong's role as China's global financial centre, in which he appealed to the Korean business and finance sectors to explore investment opportunities in Hong Kong.

 

He also visited D.CAMP, an incubator for technology start-ups, to learn about its operation and support services.

 

Prof Chan will meet with the senior management of Daum Kakao, one of the country's largest Internet companies and the owner of messaging application KakaoTalk.

 

He will also visit Hana Bank to learn more about its mobile banking initiatives, before returning to Hong Kong.
