There is a pressing need to take forward the development of innovation and technology as it will diversify the economy and improve people's living quality.
This was the message from Advisor to the Chief Executive on Innovation & Technology Nicholas Yang after chairing the Advisory Committee on Innovation & Technology's first meeting today.
He said innovation and technology provides wider employment opportunities and enhances the competitiveness and growth of related industries.
The committee will advise the Government on strategic and developmental enhancements of innovation and technology, with a focus on making the best use of the advantages of 'One Country' and 'Two Systems' and further strengthening co-ordination among the government, industry, academia and research sectors, he added.
