The Monetary Authority has issued an alert on a fraudulent website advertised in an email message which purports to be sent from the Bank of China (Hong Kong).
The email asks customers to connect to a fraudulent website through an embedded hyperlink and provide their personal data, such as Internet banking logon user name and password.
The bank has clarified it has not sent the emails and that it has no connection with the website.
Anyone who has provided personal information to the website, or conducted any financial transactions through it, should contact the bank on 3988 2388 and Police on 2860 5012.
