The First Feature Film Initiative to identify and nurture prospective talent for the local film industry through competition is open for application until August 31.
"The industry generally agrees that the initiative has given young talents who wish to join the film industry a chance to polish their skills and show their flair, adding energy to the local film industry,’ said CreateHK Head Jerry Liu.
The initiative will host at least one round of competition every year starting from this year, which will help revitalise the local film industry.
The initiative consists of a Higher Education Institution Group and a Professionals Group, and each group will be offered a prize. The director of each participating team may not have previously shot any commercial film of 80 minutes or above.
In view of rising film production costs and the expected scale of the projects, the Higher Education Institution Group’s grant will be raised from $2 million to $3.25 million, and from $5 million to $5.5 million for the Professionals Group.
