The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Ministry of Commerce and Guangdong Provincial Government have held a joint forum to brief Hong Kong businesses on the liberalisation of trade in services arrangement with Guangdong.
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So, Ministry of Commerce Deputy Director-General Sun Tong, and Guangdong Vice-Governor Zhao Yufang were among the officials who addressed the 2015 CEPA Forum on the Liberalisation of Trade in Services today.
The meeting covered financial services (banking, securities and insurance), accounting, legal, construction and related engineering, tourism, technical testing, analysis and product testing, telecommunications, and computer and related services.
Thirteen central ministries representatives and 20 Guangdong Province representatives introduced the arrangements, application criteria and procedures under the agreement.
The Central Government announced four years ago the objective of basic liberalisation of trade in services between Hong Kong and the Mainland by the end of the National 12th Five-Year Plan. The agreement signed last December advanced the achievement of this goal for Guangdong Province.
