Overall consumer prices rose 4.6% year-on-year in February, up from January's 4.1% increase, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
Netting out the effects of the Government's one-off relief measures, the underlying inflation rate was 2.8%, compared to 2.3% in January.
Year-on-year increases were recorded for electricity, gas and water, housing, alcohol and tobacco, meals bought away from home, food, miscellaneous services and goods.
Year-on-year decreases were recorded for durable goods, clothing and footwear.
The department said that inflation continued to ease in early 2015, while the mild imported inflation and moderate local cost pressures should continue to contain price pressures in the near term.
The Government will continue to monitor inflation developments closely, particularly their impact on low-income earners.
