Chief Executive CY Leung met People's Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan in Beijing today.
Mr Leung said the two sides will explore ways to further enhance co-operation and expansion of the capital market, such as the mutual recognition of investment funds.
He added that other initiatives such as the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect will also be taken forward.
Mr Leung will attend the opening ceremony of the third session of the 12th National People's Congress tomorrow.
