Chief Executive CY Leung met China Securities Regulatory Commission Chairman Xiao Gang in Beijing today.
During the meeting, Mr Leung thanked the commission for supporting Hong Kong's monetary development, especially the launch of the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect.
Noting that the stock connect has been operating smoothly since its launch in November last year, Mr Leung said the scheme could be further enhanced and expanded.
He also called for the commission's support for the launch of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect and in other areas, such as a platform for the mutual recognition of investment funds.
Mr Leung is in Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the third session of the 12th National People's Congress on March 5.
