The Communications Authority has imposed a $200,000 fine on ATV and directed it to settle its outstanding licence fees and interests by mid-March.
Acting Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Godfrey Leung told lawmakers today ATV has not yet paid the fixed fee for its free TV service licence and the annual fee for its fixed carrier licence.
The authority considers it a serious breach. It is also the second breach of the same requirement in three years.
The authority has provisionally decided to impose a fine and will consider invoking licence revocation procedures if ATV fails to settle its fees and interests by the deadline.
The authority also rejected ATV's application to settle the licence fees in arrears in five instalments. It ordered ATV to settle the outstanding licence fees and interests in two instalments by February 18 and March 18.
