The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has collected 36 million coins with a total face value of $32 million since the launch of the Coin Collection Programme.
The coins are re-circulated to meet demand.
The authority has also updated the service schedule on its website for the programme's two Coin Carts, which covers the period up until May 3, 2015.
The two Coin Carts collect coins in 18 districts on a rotational basis. Users can choose to exchange the coins for banknotes, add value to their Octopus card or donate it to the Community Chest. The service is free.
The collection programme is a two-year pilot scheme that will run until September 2016.
