FS meets Mainland officials

Financial moment:  Financial Secretary John Tsang, accompanied by Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan (right) and Monetary Authority Chief Executive Norman Chan (left), meets with China Banking Regulatory Commission Chairman Shang Fulin (second right).

Financial Secretary John Tsang met Central Government officials in Beijing today.

 

He started by meeting China Insurance Regulatory Commission President Xiang Junbo, and both sides said they are committed to encouraging cross-boundary collaboration in renminbi reinsurance.

 

He then attended a lunch hosted by President of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits Chen Deming.

 

In the afternoon he met with China Securities Regulatory Commission Chairman Xiao Gang and expressed his appreciation for the commission's support for Hong Kong's development, especially in regard to the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and mutual recognition of funds.

 

He then met China Banking Regulatory Commission Chairman Shang Fulin and expressed his wish to further promote offshore renminbi business in Hong Kong, consolidating the city's position as an international financial centre.

 

Tomorrow Mr Tsang will visit the Ministry of Commerce, the People's Bank of China, the Ministry of Finance, and the Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office.

 

Mr Tsang is being accompanied by Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Professor KC Chan and Monetary Authority Chief Executive Norman Chan.
