Alert issued on bogus websites

The Monetary Authority has issued an alert on fraudulent websites which purport to be linked to Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Citibank (Hong Kong) Limited.

 

The fake site: http://ilovefunnyvideos.com/schk/schartered/login/index.html claims to be the official website of Standard Chartered Bank.

 

The bank has clarified that it has no connection with the website.

 

Emails purporting to be sent from Citibank ask customers to use an embedded hyperlink to connect to fradulent websites such as http://www.copingpregnancy.com/hk/ which links to http://alkalimaonline.com/ci-ti/auth/ssl/index2.php. It then asks them to provide Internet banking login details and passwords.

 

Citibank Hong Kong has also clarified that it has no connection to the sites.

      

Anyone who has provided personal information to either website or has conducted any financial transactions through them should contact Standard Chartered Bank at 2886 8868, Citibank at 2860 0333, or the Police at 2860 5012.
