Growth potential:  Financial Secretary John Tsang attends the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting Retreat in Beijing.

Financial Secretary John Tsang today held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Malaysia, Canada and Indonesia on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Finance Ministers' Meeting in Beijing.

 

He met Finance Minister II of Malaysia Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, Canada's Minister of Finance Joe Oliver and Chairman of the Fiscal Policy Agency in the Indonesian Ministry of Finance Andin Hadiyanto.

 

He discussed with them investment ties between Hong Kong and their countries.

 

At the Finance Ministers' Meeting, Mr Tsang spoke on infrastructure financing, highlighting its fundamental role in raising productivity, promoting connectivity and unleashing the growth potential of regional economies.

 

"As an international financial centre, Hong Kong has been playing an active role in supporting infrastructure financing in the region. Multilateral as well as national development agencies, have been making extensive use of the financial services in Hong Kong in raising capital and managing assets," he said.
