Business meeting

Business meeting:  Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So (fourth right) meets SME organisations.

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So hosted a meeting today with eight SME organisations to listen to their views on the impact of the Occupy Central movement on their businesses.

The representatives come from sectors ranging from manufacturing, retail, and catering, to finance services and trading.

They expressed concern that the current impasse may dampen investor confidence in Hong Kong's business environment. They noted that the inconvenience brought by the protests and road blockades will affect the retail sector.

Mr So said the government cares about the business environment and is concerned about the ripple effects caused by any possible loss of investor confidence.

He said Hong Kong’s reputation and competitiveness will be jeopardised if business operations are affected for a prolonged time.

The Government will continue to monitor the situation and keep in close contact with SMEs and the business sector to understand their needs.
