A new round of the Household Expenditure Survey will be launched this month to compile statistics to show consumption behaviour.
The Census & Statistics Department conducts the survey every five years.
About 12,000 households have been selected for the latest survey.
The one-year survey period is divided into 26 two-week cycles.
Each household will be invited to participate in one cycle and are requested to keep expenditure diaries for the specified 14-day period.
Interviewers will call on selected households to explain the survey.
Householders should carefully check the interviewer's identity. They will carry a staff identity card and an authorisation certificate from the department.
