Academic wins innovation prize

September 17, 2014

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So today commended Polytechnic University Associate Professor Agachai Sumalee for winning the 2014 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Science Prize for Innovation, Research & Education.

The award recognises Mr Sumalee's excellence in research in the areas of intelligent transportation systems, transport modelling and transport planning, and his close co-operation with scientists from other APEC member economies.

The Innovation & Technology Commission nominated Mr Sumalee from the nominations put forward by the eight subsidised tertiary institutions. APEC then picked Mr Sumalee among nine candidates.

The annual award recognises young scientists aged below 40 demonstrating excellence in scientific research and co-operation with scientists from other APEC economies.
