Overall consumer prices rose 3.6% year-on-year in June, compared to 3.7% in May, the Census & Statistics Department announced today.
Netting out the effects of all Government one-off relief measures, the underlying inflation rate was 3.4%, compared to 3.5% in May.
Year-on-year increases were recorded for alcohol and tobacco (7.8%); housing (4.8%); meals bought away from home (4.7%); food (excluding meals bought away from home) (3.4%); miscellaneous services (3%); electricity, gas and water (2.4%); transport (2.4%); clothing and footwear (2%), and miscellaneous goods (1.9%).
A year-on-year decrease of 2.7% was recorded for durable goods.
The department said the continued easing of inflationary pressures was mainly due to moderated private rental increases and contained external price pressures. It expects upside risks to inflation to remain limited in the near term.
It said the Government will monitor inflation, particularly its impact on those with lower incomes.
