FS promotes HK in Los Angeles

November 08, 2011
Financial Secretary John Tsang is promoting Hong Kong on a two-day visit to Los Angeles.

On his arrival yesterday, Mr Tsang met with Pacific Investment Management Company CEO and Co-Chief Investment Officer Mohamed El-Erian. They exchanged views on the US and global financial markets.

Mr Tsang then shared with the business community Hong Kong's role as a global financial hub and an offshore renminbi centre during a luncheon. He encouraged US firms to tap these advantages by establishing a presence in Hong Kong.

He then called on Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and held a meeting with Walt Disney Company senior executives.

In the evening, he addressed a Hong Kong Tourism Board reception on Hong Kong's unlimited appeal as Asia's world city. He then attended a dinner hosted by Committee of 100 members, sharing Hong Kong's latest developments and encouraging them to seize new development opportunities in both Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Mr Tsang will attend a Pacific Council on International Policy luncheon and visit Warner Bros Studios before winding up his visit.

His next stop will be Honolulu, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Finance Ministers' Meeting on November 9 and 10.
