Alert issued on bogus emails

June 27, 2011
The Monetary Authority today issued an alert on emails purporting to be sent from Standard Chartered Bank (HK) which connect to fraudulent websites.

The emails ask customers to use an embedded hyperlink to connect to fraudulent websites www.cobyskingdom.hu/redirecttweb.php or www.ddrcp.com/data/file/board_0107/redirect.php, and verify their account information by entering their Internet banking account’s user name and password.

The bank has clarified it has not sent the emails and has no connection with the fraudulent websites. It said it does not send emails asking its customers to provide passwords or verify account information online.

Anyone who has provided personal information to the websites, or conducted financial transactions through them, should contact Standard Chartered Bank on 2886 8868 or Police.
