A person responsible for running a recycling site in North District was jailed for two weeks by Fanling Magistracy today for repeatedly violating chemical waste disposal laws.
Last September Environmental Protection Department officers found a huge quantity of regulated waste LCD monitors and waste lead-acid batteries at four recycling sites in Hung Lung Hang.
Prosecutions were initiated against the people involved. One of them had been prosecuted and convicted twice for similar offences.
He also attempted to obstruct department officers in conducting enforcement duties by shutting the site's gate.
