The Environmental Protection Department recorded 43 convictions for pollution offences in April.
Two were for air pollution, six for noise, one for failing to charge customers for plastic shopping bags, 31 for waste disposal, two for water pollution, and one under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance.
The heaviest penalty handed down in the month was an $80,000 fine against a contractor for failing to observe the Construction Noise Permit requirements when using powered mechanical equipment.
