Green vehicles’ emission standard to stay

(March 28, 2017)

Qualifying standards for environment-friendly commercial vehicles will remain unchanged from April 1 this year to March 31, 2018, the Environmental Protection Department announced today.

Vehicle models on the current list of environment-friendly commercial vehicles will still be eligible for a concession in the First Registration Tax, the department added.

The current standard for environment-friendly commercial vehicles is pegged at Euro VI while petrol or liquefied petroleum gas light duty commercial vehicles, weighting 3.5 tonnes or less, will have to comply with a nitrogen oxides emission limit 50% more stringent than the corresponding Euro VI limit.

The standard is more stringent than the prevailing statutory standard of Euro V.
