New weather camera installed

November 24, 2016

The Hong Kong Observatory has set up a new camera on Victoria Peak to provide real-time weather photos of the western part of Victoria Harbour and the Kowloon Peninsula.

The new camera overlooks a number of tourist hotspots, including Tsim Sha Tsui, the West Kowloon Cultural District, and Central & Western District.

It also provides distant views of well-known mountain peaks and photographic hotspots in Kowloon and the New Territories, such as Kowloon Peak, Lion Rock and Tai Mo Shan.

Weather photos taken by the camera will help people check for fog, rain and thunderstorms.

By checking the weather photos and meteorological data measured by the Observatory's automatic weather stations, the public can better understand weather changes over different parts of Hong Kong.
