The Environmental Protection Department recorded 43 convictions for pollution offences in September.

Seven were for air pollution, seven for noise, 26 for waste disposal and three for water pollution.

The heaviest penalty handed down in the month was a $50,000 fine against a company which deposited construction waste on a private lot without permission.
