Hong Kong Wetland Park celebrated World Wetlands Day 2016 today to highlight the vital role of wetlands for the future of humanity.
This year’s theme is "Wetlands for our Future: Sustainable Livelihoods" and commemorates the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in Iran on February 2, 1971 for conservation and wise use of wetlands worldwide.
Officiating at the celebration, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Leung Siu-fai said Wetland Park’s conservation commitment has enabled more than five million local and overseas visitors to learn about the wetlands’ biodiversity and significance over the last decade.
A bird watching festival is underway at the park until April, featuring guided tours, thematic exhibitions and workshops.
