Environment chief to visit Berlin, Paris

Secretary for the Environment KS Wong will leave for Berlin tomorrow, before attending high-level climate change meetings in Paris.

 

On November 30, Mr Wong will meet Thorsten Herdan, the Director General for Energy Policy (Heating & Efficiency) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs & Energy, to discuss energy savings policies. He will also tour a multinational conglomerate.

 

The next day, Mr Wong will meet German Energy Agency Chief Executive Andreas Kuhlmann, Permanent Secretary for Transport & Environment of the Berlin Senate Department for Urban Development & the Environment Christian Gaebler, Director General for Climate Protection Policy, European & International Affairs of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building & Nuclear Safety Franzjosef Schafhausen, and pay a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to Germany Shi Mingde. He will also visit a waste management centre.

 

On December 2, Mr Wong will visit a high-technology site and a recyclables sorting plant.

 

He will then leave for Paris to attend the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group meetings and the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

 

Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong on December 9.
