Secretary for the Environment KS Wong today attended the 12th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Energy Ministerial Meeting in Cebu.

He discussed energy-related issues, such as energy security, trade and investment, efficiency and sustainable community, as well as the promotion and use of cleaner sources of energy.

Speaking at a plenary session, Mr Wong said Hong Kong attaches great importance to the reliability of energy supply as it is vital to local economic development and helps sustain Hong Kong's position as an important financial and commercial centre.

"With commitment to the development of an Energy Resilient APEC Community and substantial experience in developing climate-proof energy infrastructure, Hong Kong will continue to sharpen our policies and efforts in combating the adverse impacts of climate change in the light of new developments in climate science and technological advances," he said.

He also met with National Energy Administration Deputy Director Zhang Yuqing.
