Secretary for the Environment KS Wong chaired the fourth meeting of the Hong Kong-Guangdong Joint Liaison Group on Combating Climate Change today.
Held in Hong Kong, the meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Director of the Guangdong Development & Reform Commission Wu Daowen.
They reviewed the progress of co-operation in 2014-15, and agreed on a work plan for 2015-16.
They noted last year's achievements included exchanges between government departments of the two places on climate projection, slope safety, climate change adaption and related issues. Seminars and workshops were also held on energy conservation and building efficiency.
The 2015-16 work plan mainly includes exchanges on climate forecast techniques, exchanges and assessments on the risks and impacts of potential climate change on influenza, and further exchanges on urban drainage system design and slope safety management. A workshop will also be held.
