Clean sea:  A Marine Department officer distributes promotional leaflets at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter.

Marine Department officers today promoted anti-water pollution activities as part of the Keep Clean 2015@Hong Kong: Our Home campaign.

They distributed promotional leaflets to the captains and owners of fishing vessels at Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter and their staff, to remind them to keep the sea clean.

They said foam plastic boxes should be properly stored to stop them from being brown into the sea, while rubbish should be placed in plastic bags provided by the department and dumped in garbage vessels.

It said that it has enhanced the clearing of marine refuse in target areas, and has deployed a foreshore cleaning team to clean-up waterfront areas.

The department urged the public to call 1823 to report marine littering.

It has also stepped up cleaning of the Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal and the China Ferry Terminal. Banners and posters are being displayed in them to remind the public and visitors to keep Hong Kong clean.
