Young water ambassadors appointed

July 10, 2015

The Water Supplies Department has appointed 587 primary students as Water Conservation Ambassadors.

They were appointed by Director of Water Supplies Enoch Lam at the seventh certificate presentation ceremony of the Water Conservation Ambassador Selection Scheme today.

More than 5,500 students from 41 primary schools have joined the scheme this year, up 1,000 on last year.

"To strengthen co-operation with schools, we are planning to launch the Integrated Education Programme on Water Conservation to inculcate in students the importance of protecting water resources through diversified channels," Mr Lam said.

The department has been running the Water Conservation Starts From Home promotional campaign in primary schools since the 2008-09 school year to encourage youngsters to treasure water resources.
