Chief Executive CY Leung officiated at the presentation ceremony for the Awards for Environmental Excellence today, commending participants for their conservation efforts.
He hailed their social responsibility in protecting the environment using innovative energy-saving and waste-reduction measures.
The awards encourage businesses and organisations to adopt green management practices, and recognise those that contribute to protecting the environment.
The awards attracted 1,048 entries, a record high since 2008 when it was launched.
Forty-six gold, silver and bronze awards, and 124 certificates of merit, were presented. Two Green Innovations Awards and three certificates of merit were also granted.
The winning organisations will share their experiences at seminars in May and June.
