Eco-warriors:  Around 140 volunteers attend the World Wetlands Day 2015 celebrations.

Wetland Park has hosted a ceremony to mark World Wetlands Day 2015, highlighting the significance of wetlands to the future of humanity and to call for action to protect the precious natural resources.

Officiating at the event today, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Alan Wong said the future of wetlands relied on efforts to protect them and that Wetland Park was committed to enhancing people’s awareness of conservation through education and ecotour programmes.

World Wetlands Day commemorates the signing of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance on February 2, 1971. On this day every year, activities are organised worldwide to raise public awareness of wetlands' value and benefits, and to promote the conservation and wise use of wetlands.

Meanwhile, Wetland Park is organising a bird watching festival until March for visitors to learn about the fascinating homes and daily habits of birds.
