Secretary for Development Paul Chan gave a speech, met officials, and inspected infrastructure projects during his duty visit to Barcelona yesterday.
He delivered a keynote speech at the World Sustainable Building 2014 Conference.
He said promoting environmentally-friendly buildings requires concerted effort from the community, the construction industry and the government, adding Hong Kong will hold two international green building events in the coming years.
He then met government officials, the Chinese Consul-General in Barcelona, and attended a networking reception to exchange ideas on sustainable development.
He toured several urban transformation and infrastructure projects, including the Marina Port Forum, the 22@Barcelona district, and the Barcelona Sea Water Desalination Plant.
He also visited an injured Hong Kong tour guide in hospital.
Mr Chan will depart for Paris today.
