The Food Wise Hong Kong Campaign today won the Excellence Award in the HKMA/TVB Awards for Marketing Excellence for promoting a "food wise" culture in Hong Kong.

It is the first Government promotional campaign to receive the award.

Launched in May, the campaign promotes a "food wise" culture and encourages behavioural changes to reduce food waste in various sectors through different activities, such as the Food Wise Charter and the ambassador scheme.

Over 370 organisations have signed the charter to reduce food waste in their daily operations, while 1,300 ambassadors have taken part in food waste reduction workshops.

The campaign also promotes food donation by subsidising NGOs in implementing food donation projects through the Environment & Conservation Fund.

A total fund of more than $10 million has been approved. It is estimated that more than 900 tonnes of surplus food will be collected for redistribution to 500,000 recipients through these projects.
