The Environmental Protection Department recorded 39 pollution-related convictions in August.

These included six for air pollution, 11 for noise, 17 for waste-disposal offences and five for water pollution.

Two people were fined $20,000 each - the highest penalties in the month - for dumping waste unlawfully and discharging pollutants into the water control zone.
