The Development Bureau's Tree Management Office today held a meeting with the arboriculture trade to discuss tree management.
The bureau's Head of Greening, Landscape & Tree Management Kathy Ng and the office's head Dr Lawrence Chau attended the meeting with 16 representatives from the trade.
They agreed it is necessary to consolidate data on professionals in the field for public reference.
The bureau maintains the List of Approved Specialist Contractors for Landscape Works.
The bureau said there are local and overseas tree management professionals and organisations providing tree maintenance and risk assessment services.
They agreed the management office, professional organisations and training institutions should work closely to provide systematic training to tree management staff of all levels, to raise the qualification requirement and to improve standards.
