The Water Supplies Department has issued 3,888 certificates in the Quality Water Recognition Scheme for Buildings, an increase of 206 compared with last year.
It also issued nearly 1,000 certificates in the Flushing Water Plumbing Quality Maintenance Recognition Scheme.
The department held the annual certificate presentation ceremony for the two schemes today.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of Water Supplies Enoch Lam said participation in the Quality Water Recognition Scheme for Buildings has continued to grow, and the Flushing Water Plumbing Quality Maintenance Recognition Scheme, launched last year, has also received strong support.
More than 1 million registered water accounts are now benefiting from the schemes.
Both schemes are on a voluntary basis. Gold, silver and blue certificates are awarded according to the number of years of continuous participation.
Buildings joining the schemes have to ensure their fresh water or flush water plumbing systems are inspected at least every three months by licensed plumbers, qualified building services surveyors or engineers.
Water samples should be taken within three months before the date of submission of the application. Certificates are awarded when their water samples pass the tests.
