The Environmental Protection Department recorded 22 pollution-related convictions in July.

These included 11 for air pollution, six for noise, four for waste-disposal offences and one for water pollution.

Two companies were fined $40,000 each - the highest penalties in the month - for importing controlled waste without a permit.
