The Environmental Protection Department has graded water quality 'good' at 17 beaches. Nineteen have been rated 'fair' and three have been rated 'poor'.
Compared with last week's gradings, Big Wave Bay and Kwun Yam beaches have been upgraded from fair to good, and Anglers', Approach, Kadoorie and Ting Kau beaches have been upgraded from poor to fair. Pui O Beach dropped from fair to poor.
Many beaches were likely to be more polluted than their grades suggested during and after periods of heavy rain. Bathers should avoid swimming at beaches for up to three days after a storm or heavy rainfall.
