Green organisations commended

About 150 recipients of green labels and certificates under the Awards for Environmental Excellence were honoured today.

 

Speaking at the award ceremony, Permanent Secretary for the Environment Anissa Wong thanked the recipients for their ecological efforts.

 

Organisations joining the Wastewi$e Label and Energywi$e Label programmes under the Environmental Labels scheme have recycled more than 190,000 tonnes of waste paper, metal and plastics, and saved moer than 81 million kilowatt-hours of energy. Participants in the Carbon Reduction Certificates scheme have also cut more than 114,000 tonnes of carbon-dioxide emissions.
 

The awards encourage businesses and organisations to adopt green management practices, and recognises those that contribute to protecting the environment. Its Environmental Labels and Carbon Reduction Certificates schemes have been well received, with about 5,000 and 540 applications filed.

 

The new Green Organisation Labels scheme salutes organisations which have gained multiple recognitions in various areas, including waste reduction, energy saving, and green products.
